A Letter from the Principal

Principal StilanoudakisThe school year seems to go faster every year! We are already into the second nine weeks of this year. Our fall sports have ended and now, we are beginning the winter sports season: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, and Swimming. We wish all of our student athletes the best of the season!

Students and Parent/legal guardians need to understand that the student’s grade must be where they want it by the winter break starting on December 21. The reason for that is when the students return on January 3rd, they only have 4 school days until they take finals. There is really no time to take a grade up 2 or 3 levels after they return to school in January. It is very important to check their live grades account and email the teachers if there are questions or concerns.

Senior Parents: You need to make sure that the FAFSA is completed for your student. It is only by this completion that your student can secure free monies for 4-year and 2-year colleges or technical schools.

Junior Parents: Did you know that your student can receive the PROMISE Scholarship by achieving the qualifying score on the School Day SAT given at Buffalo High School on April 9, 2018? This test is given for free in our school by our own teachers. The students do not even need to register. Math and English teachers have been giving SAT practice questions daily/weekly in their classes. It is important that your student takes this test serious and does their best. Please stress this to your 11th grader.

Sophomore/Freshman Parents: Voice to your students to begin thinking of building the foundation for their academic future. This would involve good grades for a high GPA, performing community services, and participating in clubs and other organizations. Positive and exemplary behavior are at the top of the list too! All of these are also very important for induction into the National Honor Society.

The success of our school is directly related to the support of parents and community. Let’s make our students and Buffalo High School the best that it can be—together!
