> Albert Yanni Scholarship-Outstanding Voc-tech student wishing to pursue post-secondary education. In the same or related career field. Unweighted 3.0 GPA or top 25% of class, no grade below C, essay and recommendations required. Deadline April. Call Gene Coulson at 558-3897 or email gcoulson@access.k12.wv.us

> American Cancer Society- $1,000-$2,500 given to survivors of childhood cancer. www.cancer.org Deadline April

> Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF)- Must be a graduating senior; complete the FAFSA: 2.8 GPA: will remain in WV: and will attend Concord, Shepard, or Marshall. www.alefwv.com

> Army ROTC- SAT 850, Act 19, agree to accept a commission in the U.S. Army. Award $20,000-$30,000. Deadline December.

> AXA Achievement- $10,000.00 to $15,000.00, student must be well rounded, determined to do their personal best and have demonstrated achievement at a job, sport or extracurricular activity. Deadline December.

> Best Buy Scholarship – Program funded by the Best Buy Children’s Foundation Download application at www.BestBuy.com and click on Community Relations. Deadline January.

> Buffalo High Faculty Scholarship- 2.5 GPA, Confirmed plans to continue your education in the fall, completed application. Deadline May.

> Burger King Scholars- Awards up to $1,000.00 each. Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, work 15 hours a week, participates in community services, has financial need, submit recommendations from school and employer, and plans to enroll in a 2-4 year college. > Coca-Cola Scholarship- 50 $20,000 scholarships will be handed out. Applicants are evaluated on leadership, community activities, academic achievement, and employment. Go to www.cocacolascholars.org Deadline October.

> Diamond Electric Scholarship- For Putnam County seniors. May use for any post-secondary institution. GPA of 3.25 or above. $1,000. per year. www.diamond-us.com Deadline April

> Dollars for Scholars Contest- Must be a West Virginia Credit Union Primary Member and a graduating high school SENIOR. The scholarship will be awarded based on involvement in school and community activities, cumulative GPA score, ACT score, teacher evaluation, and the content of two essays. ($1,000.) > Educational Communications-Provides$101,000 in scholarships. Must be legal residents of the US and have taken the ACT or SAT. Visit www.honoring.com or www.ecisf.org . Deadline April

> Engineering Scholarship-Provided by the Society of American Engineers, Huntington Post. Must attend college in the field of Engineering. Deadline January

> Engineering, Science & Technology Scholarship Program (WV Higher Education – The scholarships, not to exceed $3,000.00 per academic year. Must be accepted for enrollment as full-time student in an engineering, science, or technology program. GPA of 3.0. Willing to work in the field of engineering, science or technology in WV one year for each year of the scholarship was received. For further information call, 558-4618. Deadline March.

> Foodland-Senior with 3.0 GPA. Nine students in Tri-state get $1,500. Deadline March

> Fruth Pharmacy Scholarships-Awarded to Fruth employees or relatives of employees; attend Marshall University and maintain 2.5 GPA.

> Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Scholarship Program-Most requires 2.5 GPA & 20 ACT, letter of recommendation, personal essay, and grades from 1st semester senior year. Over 50 awards-most are $1,000. Deadline February.

> James Bailey Scholarship Fund – Student must attend a trade or technical school after graduation. The committee will determine money amount. Last year was $500.00. See counselor for application. Deadline April.

> James F. Melton Memorial Scholarship- ($500.00) Good academic standing, extracurricular activities, essay question. Deadline April.

> Jason Hedrick Memorial Scholarship- must send in an essay describing your involvement in school activities that is similar to Jason’s commitment, dedication, and enthusiasm for BHS. See counselor for an application.

> JCI Senate-$1,000 grant issued by the United States JCI Foundation. Must complete application and reference letters. Deadline January

> KFC Colonel’s Scholars-2.75 GPA or above, plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree, and demonstrate financial need. Deadline December. www.kfcscholars.org

> Little General- Provide10 $1,000 scholarships. Must be a graduating senior that is planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college. Deadline April

> Mabel C. Merical Grant-In-Aid of TAU Chapter-Applicant must be female, 3.0 GPA, involved in school & community activities, interested in pursuing a career in education, 100-150 word statement about why you wish to enter the field of education.

> Marshall University Society of Yeager Scholars-Seniors with an ACT 28 or SAT 1260 with community service and leadership. Plan on attending Marshall University. Four-year scholarship includes full tuition and fees, ½ room & board, computer, and educational travel. Deadline December.

> MENSA- Provides various amounts of awards. Must complete application and submit a 550 word essay that describes the applicant’s career, vocational or academic goals. Deadline January

> Mikey Hart Memorial Scholarship-must pursue an education in fire sciences or paramedic field. Deadline April 30th.

> Mollohan Foundation-Students may apply for 1 of the 10 applications that are available. Amounts vary. Deadline January

> National Commission for Cooperative Education- 69 $5000.00 scholarships. Must have a 3.5 GPA or better, must have completed the application. Please see counselor for more information, only a select few colleges are participating in this scholarship. Deadline February.

> Paxton Scholarship-GPA 3.0 or higher/Plans to attend a WV college. ($500.) Deadline May.

> Promise Scholarship-3.0 GPA, 22 overall ACT scores with 20 in all other subjects, SAT score of 1020. Full tuition scholarship to a state college or university in WV or an equivalent $ scholarship to instate private college. Deadline March.

> Putnam County Rotary- $ 2,000 scholarship. Must be a resident of Putnam County and will attend a WV college. Must apply with references. Deadline May

> Robert C Byrd Honors- Applicable for one senior who is in the top of their class at the end of semester two. Student does not apply but is nominated.

> SAE Engineering Scholarship Program- Must be a high school senior, intend to get a degree in engineering or a related science, be a US citizen, meet ACT, SAT requirements, and the Deadline December. Scholarships range from $1,000.00 to $10,000.00.

> STAR federal Credit Union- $1,00 scholarship. Must be a graduating senior and become a member of the STAR Credit Union. www.star.coop Deadline February

> Teays Physical Therapy Center Scholarship-Senior interested in an Allied Health Field, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Medical Technology, Pharmacy, Nursing, etc. 3.0 GPA. One student nominated from each Putnam County HS. Winner gets one time $1,000. Deadline April

> Tylenol Scholarship-Students that are going in health-related fields of study. For undergraduates and graduates. Receive one of ten, $10,000 grants or 150, $1,000 grants. www.Tylenol.com Deadline April

> USDA National Scholars Program-Partners with WV State University to provide full tuition, fees and books. Must pursue education in agriculture related fields.

> Washington Crossing Foundation- Must be a senior in high school and planning a career in government service. Scholarships range from $500-$5,000. Apply online at www.gwcf.org Deadline January

> Wal-Mart Scholarship - Scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000.00 award for the student’s first year of undergraduate study at an accredited college or university. To qualify, the student must be a graduating high school senior and may not be a Wal-Mart Associate, or be the child or legal dependent of a Wal-Mart Associate. > WV Association of Conservation- Must attend college in WV and major in an

Agriculture related field. Deadline March

> WV Desk and Derrick-Attend a 4 year college in WV; 300 word essay required, letter of recommendation; prefer students that will pursue an education in the energy industry, $1,000. Deadline January

> WV PTA Scholarships- $500.00. Must be a high school senior with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Money MUST be used for tuition. Must submit an application. The Scholarship Selection Committee will choose winners. Deadline February.

> WV Pumpkin Festival Scholarship-Seniors in need of financial assistance who will attend a WV college. GPA 2.0 For questions call: 304-634-7592 or 304-638-1633. $500. a year for (4) years. Deadline March

> WV Secondary School Activities Commission Scholarship- Seniors who are a son/daughter of a coach, bandmaster, activities director, athletic director or administrator (one submitted per school) submit application to counselor. Two $1000 scholarships for each of the five administrative districts of the WVSSAC.
